Who said pigs couldn't fly...

We officially made our first jump out of de plane today w00t what a rush

As soon as I took that last step off the C-130 @ 1250', I for damn sure closed my eyes - I hate falling - and didn't open them until the chute opened. By that time the C-130 was about 1/2 mile away...my risers were tangled so I did a bicycle motion with my legs to untangle myself like we were trained...at a couple hundred feet to the ground, I noticed my direction of drift was to the front, and pulled my rear risers to my chest accordingly..........and suddenly I was drifting to my rear okkkk...ended up doing a rear landing, aka an organized crumple to the ground...not bad except for the fact I happened to land on the only hard pack dirt road in the entire freaking field (lol) so it was a bit harder landing than it should have been. Packed up my chute and voila, I was on my way.

Only thing I'm gonna change tomorrow is to steer my way closer to the recovery point...that 300m jog in the heat was a bit too much for me today

1 down, 4 to go (including one @ night)

Hey wart, good jump mate!

Flying pigs - nice thought. You need to change your avatar and give the little yellow hog a 'chute now.

Cheers

*quickly plays AA to see what it's like*

That whole descrip they do is exactly what we do in Airborne school (they forgot to tell about the 4 mile runs)....I'll let you know what a night jump is when I do it, although there is no 'aiming circle' we have to land in...that would be about impossible...my chaulk landed over many hundred yards in a field.

BTW, this morning before the jump we saw some Rangers training...wasn't even Ranger school but the introductory program to it to condition your body and see if you can handle it....they were running along and stopped at this hill...suddenly they each pick up a buddy and proceed to job up this big hill - screw that shiznit!! lol, no thanks...I'll leave stuff like that to them

'til I realized it wasn't for me (and it's not)...I know I could do the training...anybody can - seriously. You just have to have the drive to finish no matter what, which I don't...I don't want it. Hiking around in the bush isnt what I call fun

I think it's more then having the drive to finish. They do some fun training. I doubt right now I could carry myself up a hill, much less another person.

I don't now why a person would jump from a perfectly good airplane, but if it flips your cookies go for it
Sounds like ya did good.
