GM owners using dexcool read.

seems that gm is at fault here on recommending and using dexcool in its vehicles, problems including the coolant actually promotes rust in the radiator and corroding water pumps. etc..
read up on the stories here:

My Bonneville had DexCool & I dumped it for Prestone right away. DexCool is known to gel up and clog radiators.

Old news.... I saw this years ago in SEVERAL cars that came into the shop. It was a big deal to most of our customers back in 1999-2000. We warned every customer that came in about DexCool if there car used it. The worst stuff you could put in your radiator... Good video for those who aren't aware of it though.

Really? My '97 Pontiac Sunfire uses Dexcool.

I was told to ONLY use Dexcool. If I use something else it's okay? It won't destroy anything?

Thanks,
Sean

Use Prestone. It won't.

Flush the entire system BEFORE using the Prestone. Have it pressure tested as well to make sure there are no problems while your at it, then put in the Prestone.
