My uncle was shot tonight by his step-son.

Yes, I believe so.

He has been mentally unstable for a long time, but I still have to ask why?

samwichse, I'm very sorry to hear that. The death of a loved one is hard enough to deal with, but this? I can understand your confusion in searching for a reason why. Please accept my prayers.

Certainly not to take away from the tragedy of this, but I wonder how the step son got ahold of a gun if it was known that he was mentally unstable? Seems logical to not allow easy access, but then again, most people don't always think that way. Geez....really makes you wonder why though....

I'm truly sorry to hear about your loss Samwichse.
