"Why Rumsfeld is wrong"
In an interview with MSNBC, Robin Cook (the British Foreign Minister who resigned over the Iraq War) explains why he doesn't believe Donald Rumsfeld's explanation for the failure to find weapons of mass destruction: Quote: Isn't it possible that Saddam Hussein ordered their destruction, as U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has suggested?
No. I don't think it's even remotely possible. I just cannot follow the Rumsfeld logic; that watching CNN and seeing the American build-up Saddam said to his generals, "It's obvious that the U.S. is going to invade; we had better destroy our biggest weapons, so that when I am toppled there might be some very difficult questions for Donald Rumsfeld to answer."

I wouldn't categorize it as a failure, yet. There are many things on the minds of Coalition forces in Iraq, like security and rebuilding the gov't. I believe, in time (6 months or so), we will know whether they were destroyed or shipped off somewhere or if they are still in Iraq.

I haven't given up the thought that they have indeed been destroyed, but it makes me wonder how they could just be destroyed or moved out of the country without someone seeing.
Besides, you would think that they would throw as much as they could in our direction?

If Saddam would have cooperated with the UN inspectors and cleaned up his act, we would have had to throw him out on human rights principles! I sure he has his defenders, but I am not one of them!
Regarding the oil, the Iraq's are suddenly part of a wealthy nation. If things are run right, (yes, the USA way!) individually they are going to become prosperous.
Naysayers here in the USA and elsewhere can carp about what was and wasn't found, but the Iraqi people and the Arab world are much better off.
Iran is next to go and that will complete the second leg of the triad. (the third being Saudi Arabia). Freedom is coming!

what is this evidence ... yes they were there before the first gulf war . the inspectors destroyed alot of them . but where is this evidence for the main reason we were told to go in there now ?
and why do you say syria ? is it the same reason that powel told the UN that iraq was handing out weapons to use against US troops? he said he had evidence of that yet they found none .
