tippmans are rock solid, they never break, but they have lots of problems. balls don't curve in a 98 Custom either I've noticed.

However, with a spyder you have excellent ballance. it isn't unbreakable, but its pretty low matience. they shoot straight and perform well. The TL is an EXCELLENT model. I have a few friends that have those models and they are very pleased. just upgrade the barrell and your set for a long time

If you get a tipmann.. get the 98 custom and not the A-5 from what i've heard..

http://www.paintballforum.com/forum/index.php
there is a forum dedicated to paintball if you want to take a look.. the 98 custom is reccommended as a good entry gun... decent performance, decent price, and takes a good beating..

I own a tippmann 98 custom - its a wicked good gun and I've never had a problem with it. I don't know a lot about the A-5 but I've heard some people say that Tippmanns claim of no extra air usage by the hopper is a bunch of bull. It supposedly uses a LOT of air.

One of my buddies owns an AutoMag. I've worked on it a few times, being somewhat of a hobbiest airsmith, and I have to admit that the construction of that thing is like nothing ive ever seen. It's BOMBPROOF. The fact that it a completely pneumatic system appeals to the simplistic side of me, and the fact that you can achieve non-mod fire rates of 10+ BPS (AKA as fast as u pull the trigger) is very cool.

Only thing I don't like is the design of its body - I am addicted to the two-grip, MP-40 style that the Tippmanns have.

A Tippman is the way to go. I've had mine for about 6 months with no problems at all. I've got an A-5 and find it to be a great gun for the money. The package deals are ok, but the mask they usually come with is garbage. I used mine for two weeks before retiring it and getting a good anti-fogging one. Most of the 98 packages I've seen come with a 9oz tank and I'd recommend going with at least a 12. The only reason you'd need a 20 is if you're throwing out paintballs faster than you can load them in the hopper. I would reccomend the A-5 over the 98 because of the cyclone feed is nice and it's easier to strip than the 98.

There's a lot of places that let you do a custom package so check those out. To start out I would get 2 tanks, a field swab, a good squeegee, an anti fog mask, a better barrel(important), paintball oil, and a gear bag. This should get you started.

I've played with a lot of guys with Spyders and a few of them have switched over to Tippmans. It's all personal preference.

My cousin runs a paintball field.I work there some times.Don't get a spyder. They are a problematic gun lots of guys come out with there spyders spend half the day fixn them then end up renting a 98.My cousin has like 50 tippmann 98's they are a well built gun.Get a 98 or automag. If you have the cash get a autococker.I have worked there for almost 6 years.Trust me I know paint guns.

the a-5 would be a good choice as of now... it already has a built in loader so there is no need to drop $50-$150 on a loader in the future when you decide to get more firepower. a-5 is rock solid and has a good feel to them.

i have been teching a-5's and 98's for a while now and trust me, theres nothing you cant fix. if you have any problems just shoot me a PM.
