This might be a stupid question...signed up for a VISA check card from my bank awhile back and now it's waiting for me @ home....can you make online purchases with that? Or am I limited to stuff @ the store?

If you have the CC# exp date, and the 'security code' you should be ok.. but somebody should have to call and have it activated first (there should be a sticker with a phone # on the top of it.

Debit cards are great, I use it for 90% of purchases like grocery stores etc so I don't have to carry much cash
(unfortunately vending machines are dinner at work so DO need some )

only bad thing about them is they are tied to you bank account . so if someone gets it they can "clear out your account "
BUT if you talk to your bank you can set daily LIMITS on the amount that can be used as a CC .most bank have a 24 hour phone # you can call to change the limit so if you want to make a purchase that is higher than your limit you can call and have it changed so you can set the limit low just incase someone does get the # .
Yes but keep in mind there must be enough to cover your purchase in the account. I love it cause I use mine to pay bills on-line and make purchases. I only keep in the account what I need for the bills and transfer money into it when I'm going to buy something.
I use mine all the time for online purchases.If it's visa it's also covered the same as a regular credit card. As far as liability and stuff like that.
Since I don't have a credit card, I've always have had to save up the cash before buying anything big...doing so now won't be any change. Looking forward to using it! I've always had to borrow the 'rents CC before purchasing anything online..w00t
