New Stuff (House, Puppy), Some advice please.

Hi All. Long time no speek, it's been very busy lately and I haven't had the time to come around... (I'm sure you didn't miss me )

So, the wife and I bought a house! WOOOOHOOO!!! I'm really happy about that. Here's a link if you want to see it:

We got for way less than the asking price! We take possession at the end of June but I will be spending some time doing some renos. I'm going to replace the carpet with laminate flooring, and Paint the whole inside, and have put some new plumbing and shower in the basement.

And we’re getting a new puppy. He’s 2/3 German Sheppard and 1/3 Husky. He’s very cute. I have had dogs before but I was very young. Do you have any advice for a first time puppy owner? Tips/tricks?

Nice talking to all you again.
Al

nice home! Congrats!

puppy- buy a kong chew toy, buy two or four or six of em. They last real well and may help with that puppy chew up the furniture, house and car stage they go through...

Wow, NICE, Zenyo!

Sweet's right, Kong chew toy... and any mixed breed dog that boasts 2/3 German Shepherd is gonna be an awesome dog!

I was raised by one. And just look at me, huh?

WOOF!

That's an interesting mix.

Buy some good solid chew toys, like Kong. They make good dog toys.

Beware of feeding him table scraps. He'll balloon before you even realize it.

Give him lots of attention, lots of walks. Make sure you show him who's boss though (that would be you by the way ). Take him to obedience training after (I think) he's 2 months old, you'll be saving yourself a lot of potential trouble down the road. You can check the best age for beginning obedience training.

Best advise I can give about having a large dog - Invest in a top quality shop-vac.

No home vacuum can equal one for controlling the hair that will shortly be covering everything you own!

There's no doubt about that. I love dogs, I've been wanting one for years, I'm just a little out of practice.

Cool, I'll check those out.

LOL Knot , I'm sure you turned out just fine!

I thought about obedience training but at such a youg age I'm sure I can get him there myself? If not than I definately will bring him to the training.

Thanks for your advice.
