From what I read dreams are the process by which your brain processes the days information and input, the process of sorting them out, retaining useful info and dumping the useless junk.

Dreams only give you clues, they are a mixture of emotions and experiences.

They are not a book that can be read. They are a multitude of things, they give only clues.

Is a painting a lie if it depicts something that doesn't exist?

Is a novel a lie?

Is an autobiography a lie if the author misremembers something?

"What is Truth?" I'm not staying for an answer... .

Half the time my dreams make absolutely no sense at all...I mean really off the wall stuff. (Won't go into detail, lol)

But that's basically the way I always understood what dreams were...it's not necissarily trying to tell you what you want or who you want to be...it's just going over the days events and storing what was useful and dumping what wasn't.

Im interpreting this to be not a dream that you get while sleeping but rather a life's dream.

I think its not a lie, however life changes with unforseeable events and sometimes our dreams get ajusted a little. Altho giving it up completely is not good because only sets yourself up for a emotional, mental failure.

Its okay to have the dream, just don't expect it to play out exactly like in your head to the exact degree.

Everyones road to thier dreams takes different measures and we can not know what is going to happen while getting there, but being persistant is a important key.

I have had several dreams in life that did not play out right however I had only adjusted to accomondate for current times, unforseeable events and for real possiblities that are goals within reachable limits and not outragious expectations of one self that failure is the only possiblitiy.

If you are talking about dream dreams like when you sleep. Im in agreement iwth what ClubMed said.

I always used to think that dreams were ways for your sub-conscious to deal with the events of your life.

Buuuuut...

**Warning, tangent coming up**

A few years ago while still in college, I started having some very life-like dreams. I was NOT doing any drugs or hung over beforehand, just to set the record straight.

These were set in the school and with my classmates and teachers. It was so weird. I only remember one that actually was 90% accurate to something that happened to me 4 months after dreaming it.

Brief history lesson: There was this girl that I never asked out in high school and never saw after that.

In my dream I ran into her outside the college's main computer lab. One of my friends was going to introduce me to her but I said I already knew her. My dream ended.

Fast forward 4 months, real life: I'm working in the college's main computer lab, with a different friend then the one in the dream, preparing for a night school course and as I'm walking out to the main door, I see her working at a computer there. I stop and we talk for a bit.

I wasn't at my hometown college, I'd gone to the one about 100 kilometres (about 70 miles I think) away from where I went to high school. I hadn't seen her since high school and she would have started college the same time I did. I remembered my dream about it and was a little freaked out.

I've had incidents like that happen to me a fair number of times over the last 5 years, it's really weird.

**END TANGENT**

Those incidents have totally changed my opinions of dreaming.

I now believe if you're in the right state of mind, your dreams become potential views of your future. The ones that seem very real anyway. Perhaps even views of alternate time lines.

I'm going to stop before I totally derail this threads original topic.
