Is a dream a lie if it doesnt come true?

Isn't that a line from the song: "The River" from Bruce Springsteen? I'm sure somebody else said it before but that pops into my mind. The line goes on to say "or is it something worse?". I believe the song says "don't" instead of "doesn't" if I remember correctly.
