Howdy all! Just got back from Kuwait last night. Was supposed to have gone for a standard 3 month tour, but got extended due to the war, so I wound up over there for about 6 months.
I worked at an airbase there, so I didn't get to go north into Iraq. The main thing we had to deal with was the missile launches. Luckily those guys can't aim a missile for crap.

Not to mention the stellar job done by the Patriot missile crews. One missile was shot down 20 miles away from us...that's not far, considering how fast they're moving!
I can tell you that the desert is a miserable, nasty place. We spent a lot of time wearing our chemical protective suits and "battle rattle" gear in the heat, but we had it super easy compared by the units that fought their way north. My hat's off to all of them. If any of you happened to be watching CNN early one morning and caught an interview with a couple of weather guys....I was the tall one.
I probably won't be on here a lot in the next few weeks. I'm going to be here in the states travelling around, visiting family and such. Then the wife and I are off to the Bahamas!

I'll be heading back to Japan after that, and things will be back to "normal".
