Marquette, Mi flood pictures

This all happened last week up by Draboo and I. Fun with mother nature. Not.

Picture 1 is the Forestville bridge, which bridges the dead river (I think), after the damn burst. Picture 6 is the what's left of Silver Lake. Picture 7 and 8 are what's left of Tourist Park, which is where we were going to be camping this coming Memorial Day Weekend. Understandably they've closed the park and refunded us our reservation fees.

Most of our wheeling excursions in Marquette revolve around the Silver Lake basin and Forestville so this Memorial Day should be especially interesting.

As Draboo stated in the Hey Draboo! thread, there are still a couple of dams that are threatening to let go, and if they do, pretty much all of Mqt that isn't on the hill will be under a foot or more of water. Haven't heard yet if this is a federal disaster thing, but I'm guessing it'll probably turn into one.

Damn, that is alot of destruction. I hope all of yours and draboo's family and friends are safe.

I will have to show these to my brother as he used to live there for about 2 years when he was in the Air Force. I'm sure he will recognize some of it.

How often does your state go through major disasters like that?

We had heard on the news the other night they already filed and gotten national disaster relief thingy approved. I can't give no linkage tho, but we heard that. How can you not! look at the major damage.

Glad ya all are okay.

Yes, and yes. It's a bike path if I'm not mistaken.

I actually live about an hour south of the mayhem, Draboo lives a lot closer though.

the lower bridge in 7 is actually the original bridge that handled auto traffic. that road got a massive rebuild in the mid 80s. they just rerouted the road and left the old bridge there. you would see folks fishing off of it quite often while driving over the new one.

Gaming

Nothing nicer than a river front home until Mother Nature decides to have a tantrum.

What a mess, eh?
