Gotta love these prices!

It's always fun to find dead websites, they are like reading a magazine article from 15 years ago. Anyway, here you can buy (for a limited time!) a Cyrix 233mhz system for only $699! It comes with 2mb video card whoohoo! http://www.jhcampbell.com/web/jptfinalsite/systems.html

I can beat that....someone here posted up a matchbook from to 70's...EARLY 70's, maybe 74. It was wild...a serious flashback.

It said something like "well trained men can make $8000 a year and more"...lol. What killed me was that I was making $6.25/hr as an A+ certed tech, lol...so I was somewhat in 1974 money in 2002.

That's about right . I paid $1400.00 for my first computer.

AMD 300 Mhz
Seagate 6 gig Hdd
64 Mb PC 100
4 Mb vid card
Esonic audio
56 k modem
32x CDrom
floppy
17" monitor
Lexmark printer

My wife still uses it, though some of the components have been changed

Geeze my first was about 3 grand. It was an Apple IIsi had a little black and white printer and a separate monitor.
When I upgraded the hard drive to 80 megs and upgraded to a 14.4 modem for a blazing internet connection about a year later, I thought I was set for life!

My first computer was a commodore 64, then i later got a 8086, my grandfather was very early in the computer stuff, i remember when he bought a 8088, this thing was a beast, colour monitor, cd rom drive (1x speed!!!) 40mb harddrive, man this thing owned.

Needless to say this was in the early 90's

8086-1 at a rare 10 MHz (huge heatsink) with a rare hardware co-processor chip. That old box trounced 286 systems in benchmarks and is probably still in use to this day as a dumb terminal (last I knew of it).
