7-11.. Huh..

ok, so i was getting gas at 7-11

*inserts card, removes quickly*
-credit outside- *push*
*lifts nozzle and chooses low grade*
fueling... fueling... fueling..
"see associate for reciept"

so here is where it gets strange:
*goes inside*
me: "hey, can i get a receipt for pump 5, it was $10 something"
the guy does something, and i see "refund .11 on"
on the screen
he hands me $0.11 and says "you didnt pump 5 yet"
i said, "yeah.. i wanted a reciept.. whats this 11 cents?"
he gives me a receipt, but instead, it says "prepay $10.00"
im like "..huh?"
he is like "just take it"
and im like "huh.. ..o..ok"

and so i left, tossed the $0.11 into my car, wrote down the real cost of my gas ($10.62) on the "receipt" and drove off

it was kind of odd

I'm always paranoid about the "attendant" calling the cops on me for doing a drive off if they are really busy and I use the debit card. I ALWAYS print the receipt out.
I would think they have a way of telling that it is a debit purchase, but when thinga are hectic I don't want to take a chance.

7-11 is the name of a chain of convenience stores in North America.

7-11 = Opens at 7am, closes at 11pm. At least, I assume that's the idea.

Well that may have been the idea when it opened.
I have been in many of them and have seen them 24-7..
Of course others are open at like 4 in the morning so people on their way to work a couple hours later can pick up coffee and so forth.

The company's first convenience outlets were known as Tote'm stores since customers "toted" away their purchases, and some even sported genuine Alaskan totem poles in front. In 1946, Tote'm became 7-Eleven to reflect the stores' new, extended hours - 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., seven days a week. The company's corporate name was changed from The Southland Corporation to 7-Eleven, Inc. in 1999.Today, 7-Eleven is the undisputed leader in convenience retailing with more than 24,000 stores operating in the U.S. and 17 other countries and total sales of more than $33 billion in 2002.
