Good Tilapia Recipe?

Ok I picked up some tilapia (fish) from the store tonight and looking for a good recipe.

I don't have a million dollar kitchen, so bear with me

I just want a good recipe preferably a marinade of sorts so I can bake up the fish

I have a lemon & herb marinade, but the last time I tried it on chicken it was a bit overwhelming so would like something to go along with that but maybe lower the strength of the lemon & herb stuff

If I need to pick up a few spices etc from the store I can do that.. no I can't fly to ecuador for a special spice made from the fungus that grows on the roots of the Cedro tree solely made in one village so no bizarre stuff
Grocery store spices only!!! lol

Any ideas?

Get some foil, put the fish in slice add a squirt of lemon salt and pepper and wrap and bake.

You can throw the pan away

Nah, dig a hole, vass.

Then fill it with hot coals (or just burn some wood to make hot coals ).

THEN - do what Surreal says, and bury the well wrapped fish in the hot coals. Leave for a few hours (or until tender enough - just check it every so often, but always seal it up good! ).

That's how we cook the yummiest fish here. Either that, or in the Weber

Cheers
Mick

own no weber
I don't think the housing association would approve of us digging a hole and burning a fish in it. These ingnoramouses would probably think we were doing some sort of voodoo

hmm may just try that Surreal

Sorry GB, no deep frier either

slight modifications by a suggestion from the g/f

Squeezed a lemon slice over the fish and then added the slice into the foil, added some butter, salt, pepper and a bit of garlic powder

Pretty good
I need to add a bit more of something though, the lemon was the dominant flavor so want to add something to add to that flavor.. possibly just adding more of one of the ingredients above

Not bad for first time cooking fish

Sound like a nice bit of fish, vass.

Still better when cooked in hot coals, though. Something about the added smoke that adds to the flavour.

Cheers

Unfortunately that is not possible, as I'd love to taste it
Love grilled/smoked foods

When I have caught several fish I wrap them in banana leaves. Next I dig some clay from the riverbank and pack that around the wrapped fish. They are placed on the ground and a nice fire is moved over them. When the clay hardens move the fire off and split open the clay.
