Dumpster diving another form
Today was spring clean up in my area of town. This is where you put out the large items that you don't want anymore. You an also have alot of stuff put out for them to pickup. Usually you can only have a couple of bags and that is it.
I put 95% of our stuff out on Thursday, everything except the boxes. This way I could go walking around and check things out. We call this junking
Well, I had just missed a HP pc with a 20" monitor by about 5 min. Oh, well. I did however save myself a couple of hundered $ by finding a huge stack of brand new shingles. One of the projects I have for this summer is redoing the roof on he front porch. This means new shingles, plywood, the whole nine yards.
When I loaded the stack into my car, it dang near pulled a wheelie. Luckily I only needed to go about 2 blocks to unload it.
This was too sweet. Some of the shingles are still in the paper wrapper that they come in.
Such a shame that some one would have the $$ to just toss these things. I mean I would have tried to either take them back or sell them somewhere. Try and recoup some of the money spent.
Oh well my good fortune I guess.

I'm sure there is a local church group or other charity that would be glad to have that kind of stuff as well.

I just got rid of my pos fibreglass 14 ft. boat on this years spring clean-up. Drug it out by the street and within two hours somebody picked it up and took it home.

Yeah, we had one about a month ago, and I missed some good stuff because I didn't want to be seen taking stuff off someone's sidewalk. I only got about 5-6 items, which I really needed. The rest not worth mentioning except 1 item was a 15" computer monitor which works!
I went up from a 13"!
