Talk Bill Gates

Over the years I have seen a lot of negative comments about Bill Gates. I never met the guy myself and I tried to keep an open mind about him but you just can’t help being influenced by so many comments. Then recently a friend of mine met him and said he was a really nice person. He said Bill Gates talked with his 17yearold son for half an hour about all kinds of things. My friend was totally impressed with the guy.

He's got a lot of money, so ppl talk about him like he is very different.

But he's human, I reckon.

Cheers

Guy's got a multi-million dollar a year charity running somewhere. He can't be ALL bad. I think everyone's just mad because he's outsmarted them.

Oh I don't have anyting against him.. He has dirty business ethics?
Well you don't become the richest man in the world by playing nicely. I respect the man..
To become so rich and actually earn the money (unlike some who just inherit it. )

True. I have a book I read about microsoft. It's called Microsoft: first generation. It's about twelve people (including Bill) who made microsoft from a nobody company to an empire. They started out as an applications company and then went on to write dos. Turned out that dos was lot easier to use than cp/m. Guess what sold more computers? Windows! Now everybody can use computers. An icon is worth a thousand words. You'd have to be a geek to use dos and not everybody's a geek. At microsoft anyone can work anytime. You like mornings? Fine. You'd rather work overnight? Fine. A very flexible company and everybody retired a millionaire and owned a piece of stock. They can't help but become a monopoly because it was staffed with brilliant people. I'd give my right arm to get in that company and the interviews goes on for days. If you get in, you're in! I can't help but admire them but lots of my friends hates their guts. Especially those who don't know how to use dos.

I'm a Geek

Oh well, at least I can install from a non-bootable CD, and I can make the disk to do it (the non-automated way)

Dos should be taught to everyone, esp. those who use 9x/me.

As for bill, I doubt I'll ever meet him, but if I do remind me to ask for an interest free loan

I just saw "The Pirates of Silicon Valley" and the movie further increased my hate for the man. Come on now, let's be real, he didn't even WRITE dos, he bought it off of a guy in Seattle Computers co. Then of course there is the question of windows looking "surprisingly" similar to Mac OS. IMHO Bill Gates is a good businessman, that's all he is, he doesn't know as much about the computers as he is given credit for, since his last original invention was the BASIC for the Altair in 1975, and some credit should also go to Paul Allen. BTW, I really recommend "the pirates..." for watching, a good movie for those who like to learn about the history of the modern PC.

I just want to show how big of a hypocrate BG is; he admired IBM for having an open platform for others to make clones to the PC, yet he himself won't allow anyone near winderz.
