Laser Checks
I know a lot of you out there run your own businesses.
And I'm sure a large percentage of you run QuickBooks.
So, here's my question -- where do you get your laser checks? I've ordered directly from Intuit before, and what I got was over-priced, low quality checks. I ordered from McBee, and got the same thing.
Can anyone recommend a company that provides quality laser checks at a reasonable price?
Thanks in advance!

I know of no good places that are cheap enough to use.
I Googled and found http://www.checkmate4quicken.com/
A person who wrote a program to use your own personal checks. It seems a bit rough around the edges but for the price I think you might want to use it.
I couldnt find anyone else even close to this persons cost the next cheapest was a starter kit for 400 - 1 check per page for $49.99. And the next one you would have to pay the full price, whatever that may be.
The reason is the MICR code has to be done in 'MAGNETIC INK" So the information can be taken up by the machines the banks use now, providing a sometimes "hands off" check.
However if you are willing to go through the expense of buying and caring for a dedicated laser printer, you can print your own. But that solution is very expensive unless you print like 5000 or more
a month. But if you have an extra or can get a cheap laser printer it may be the way to go.

Edit- I need a spelling program.

just a comment.... you should call your bank and see if they will accept laser checks that you print....
I did and mine didn't. May need to call the accounting department. This may save ya some trouble, or at least be better prepared to set up your stuff!
Good Luck Omally....

Printing my own checks seems like more hastle than it's worth.
I'm okay with buying them from someone. I just want to find someone that's reliable, and not ridiculously over-priced.

Regarding printing your own, I tried the Versa Check package. Actually easy to use, and the paper is correct for checks. The bank WILL accept them, and Quicken prints on them correctly, so I'd assume QuickBooks would also. However, as always, there's a catch. While the banking system recognizes them, it does NOT register the check number, so the statement comes back with a bunch of unordered, non-numbered transactions.
This also happened to a friend using the same system, but with a different bank, so it's not just my bank.
Not acceptable, so I stoppped & went back to handwritten.

Oh, but I agree btw. The quality would be there, not sure about the price, though. If you buy volume it probably evens out. I pay $23.00 US for one box of wallet duplicate checks.
