Bye Bye First Ammendment.. Again
"Subject: Madeline Murray O'Hare is still at it. Read
Apr 2003 10:47:12 -0700 Please read...this could affect us all.
Though she's dead and has just been located, after 5 years, this woman continues to haunt us from her shallow grave. CBS will be forced to discontinue "Touched by an Angel" for using the word God in every program.
It does not matter if you like the show or not. What does matter is that America was built on "God We Trust" and the freedom to practice any religion we choose. Madeline Murray O'Hare, an atheist, successfully managed to eliminate the use of Bible reading from public schools a few years ago.
Now her organization has been granted a federal hearing on the same subject by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC. Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the reading of the Gospel our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America.
They got 287,000 signatures to back their stand! If this attempt is successful, all Sunday worship services being broadcast on the radio or by television will be stopped. This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas programs and Christmas carols from public schools!! You as a Christian can help!
We are praying for at least 1 million signatures. This would defeat their effort and show that there are many Christians alive, well and concerned about our country. As Christians, we must unite on this. PLEASE don't take this lightly. We ignored this woman once and lost prayer in our school and in offices across the nation. PLEASE, STAND UP FOR YOUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM and let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference in our country.
PLEASE press "forward" and only delete out what is not needed, and forward this to everyone on your list. Now, please sign your name at the bottom (you can only add your name after you have pressed the "Forward" or try adding it before pressing forward" and make sure that it shows up when you get ready to forward it to other people ). Don't delete anything, just go to the next number and type your name.
Please do not sign jointly, such as Mr.& Mrs. Each person should sign his/her own name. Please e-mail this to everyone you know, and help us defeat this organization and keep the right of our freedom of religion. When you get to 500 please e-mail back to Lisa Norman. " I got this in an email today, does anyone know if this is an actual hearing?
It sure seems outrageous to me. Telling people they cant say "GOD" on the airwaves just doesnt seem feasible. it gets me ticked.
so far there were 242 sigs on the email i recieved, if anyone wants to sign it i can post the entire email so you can sign/forward

Religion is just an excuse for the weak minded to find relevance and some sort of meaning to their existance, IMO.

My bad, i should have done a google before posting this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search
goldenbuddha,
I respect your opinion, but don't understand the relevance to this thread. I belive in god and christ. but i dont consider myself a "religious" person. and if i am told what i can and cannot say, about anything i do take offense. an example would be if your opinion were censored because it might offend someone.

goldenbuddha, you are right... Religion is a man-made thing to make us feel like we're doing something for God. Relationship is what Christianity is all about. It's a relationship between a man and his Maker. Knowing and accepting God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ's sacrifice. Accepting that we cannot save ourselves and that God has to do it for us.
I am disgusted about Ms. O'Hare's 'corporation' and what they have done to our cities, schools, and nation. Even if people don't agree with what Christians believe in. They can at least be able to see that we, as Americans, are loosing our freedom, religous and otherwise, every single day. This is not what the founding fathers would've wanted to have happen. The American family is crumbling because of what has happened in our nation's public school system. It has effectively "breain-washed" or "trained" our children what to think and how to act. And no longer is there much accountability for our actions these days. Sorry for my rant on this, but I can't help but see where this world is going.

ocit, my post is about the whole shimsham propaganda that is religion. A lot of organisations and people use that premise to dictate norms, rules and regulation onto others.
I really do not like people forcing their religious and ideology down other people's throats. No one should be forced to read the Christian bible or the Islamic Koran or anything like that. Since religion is all false anyway, let people choose which poison they personally feel could give meaning to their lives.
What does the "religious freedom" as stated in the email have anything to do with legislating by law people to read the bible (written by who know what people ages ago) and praying. By pushing the law to force people to do anything kind of degates the meaning of "freedom"
On another note the part of the email where it says " Don't delete anything, just go to the next number and type your name."
would indicate to me that someone is farming for email addresses.

I can believe what I want to, and so can you.
But, when others will bash you for what you believe in, then that's what I'm talking about. What I meant about what I said is simply this: All I want the school system to do is to teach kids things that they will use in life, and will benefit them in the business, social, and personal life.
What gets me is that alot of people will rush in and tell everyone to be tolerant, but when it comes down to it, they are the ones that aren't accepting people's differing beliefs and opinions.
