Could We "MINI-FORUM" Where Acknowledged TecHIMOids Would Discuss a Subject ?

Sort of like those Magazine Forums that bring together Five or so Acknowledged or Purported Mavens to discuss some subject?

Maybe a Mod could Moderate it --unless they are one of the Mavens-- or a Chosen member act as Facilatator.

By prior agreement these chosen TecHIMOlians would be the only ones allowed to Post for say, 50 or so posts--an avarage of ten replies each excluding the Mod. The amount would be decided ahead of time.

At the conclusion, the Board would be open to all Members to ask questions to specified or open Respondents.

It would be preferable to do this on one day or two so there is a steady flow although maybe a week might prove more viable.

ADVANTAGES:

1) Members with acknowledged or supposed knowledge of subject e.g. CPU's would have opputunity to share their knowledge.

2) All Members would be able to get to know these members better, their specialized knowledge , or their views.

3) A Discussion could emerge by those who are best able to critique a position.

4) An Opening Statement, if that is the form agreed upon , would allow Presentatation of a position on the Topic.

5) Different Topics could be chosen every two weeks or so such as some current debate in Video Graphics, O/c ing pssibilities etc:
the issue would be chosen from "hot" issues in that field.

6) Topics such as "Technology Economics: the future of Innovation in Smaller Companies" could be discussed that cross-reference topics and include overiding issues.

7) The General membership would be able to pose questions to one (or more) Mavens a-f-t-e-r knowing their views at the end .

Yes there are many problems.

But if we can agree on the conceptual framework, the particulars could be worked out. Perhaps a Committee (possible including the esteemed Mods if they will), could work out some points to prevent interminable discussion on procedure.

I don't know if this has ever been tried, I don't know if it will ever be tried, but the notion of a CLosed-and-Opened Mini-Forum with floating members and topics intrigues me.

As always, Candor-N-Tactfulness works best !

DOOOG
