Its was amazing...

Well, I blew some of the money I had put back.

Went to the Airshow near here Sunday and....well I wanted to fly...

Saw a couple of outfits selling normal plane rides, but one guy was giving aerobatic rides on a T6 Texan ... WWII era plane..

dunno how many g's he was pulling when he pulled a loop out of a dive, but it felt great.

Ready to go again.....(when funds are availiable ) I really need to hit a lottery somewhere...

I'm impressed. I'd have been doing an aerial dispersal of my lunch.

if you did a normal loop you pulled around 4Gs.
They use the G-meter to do loops and all acrobatic manouvers.

That`s a very useful little instrument.

When you pull up beginning the first quarter of the loop, you are pulling 4Gs, mantaining the meter at that level till you reach the end of the second quarter. RIght there you have to ease off going level and you`re at 0gs for 3 seconds...then start again pulling back on the yoke and you`re at 4Gs throughout

Acrobatic is certainly awesome.

Try to go and do it in a Pitts Special! 1000Lbs for 350HP of engine!

Positive G's are generated when an aircraft pitches upwards (the nose pulls up). For example, when the aircraft turns quickly or pulls up sharply. A World War II fighter may be capable of generating 7 G's or more. The physical effect of Positive G's on a pilot is a possible blackout, usually preceded by greyout (a less severe effect).
7 g's huh ... not bad for a WWII plane.

I tell ya what... its more fun than any roller coaster I have ever ridden... lots more bodily pressure also.. I rode quite a few extreme roller coasters..

Sweet! We've got a B-17 coming again this weekend. I'm hoping to get over to the airport and check it out. Sure wish I had the $350 to get the 45 minute ride they offer...dang it! Last year it flew right over my place...seemed like it was so close I could've hit it with a rock. And me without my camera!

I got to experience a couple of barrel rolls in a Gates Lear Jet back in the 80's....at Van Nuys Airport, these things were coming in and out all the time...

But the weirdest physical sensation I ever experienced in the air was in a plain ol' Piper Cub, or something like that....The pilot (a friend with a flying license) rented a plane, and we took off for the Mojave Desert, and during the flight, he says, "Hey, wanna try something?"

So, I say "sure!" I really am much more stable these days...

What he does, is, he goes into a power climb into the sun....the engine was SCREAMING..... then this marvelous idiot conks the engine at the top of the parabola, and we begin free-falling, and then he catches the engine again, and commences a POWER DIVE!!

What happened next, the flight log notebook begins FLOATING in front of my face, and I had this bizarre sensation of my insides trying to exit my throat....and my feet were feeling as though they were being squeezed.... (it was lack of blood).

Basically, we were weightless, is what happened. It only lasted for a little bit, but man, what an astounding feeling!

Fun with airplanes!
