Is this a good deal?

Being a college student and short of cash, when I decided to get a laptop I decided to go the eBay route. Here is what I just got today, for $770 (shipped)

HP Pavilion ZE4101 with mobile Athlon XP 1500+
384 mb Crucial DDR memory
20 gig HD
8xDVD ROM
XP home
Targus Notebook Case
SMC wireless networking card

It was originally purchased in oct 2002 - roughly 1 year of factory warrenty left. The kid only powered the laptop off of the battery 3-5 times - the rest of the time it was powered off of the wall or was just off.

His reason for selling was that he hasn't used it in months and doesn't need it anymore.

Would YOU have paid $770 for the entire thing? I am just trying to reassure myself that I know my prices...

i had a laptop for a week or so before i decided i wanted a new desktop.. it was a 1300+, 256mb ram, shared video, cdrw/dvd combo, 20gig hd

it was on sale, open box, $999
retail, $1300

it sounds like a great deal to me

yea, worth the $$$for $649 + shipping Tiger Direct sells a crappy IBM Thinkpad with a P3 700mhz 12gig hdd, 128mb sram, 14.1 tft xga, 10/100 nice, DVD, 3.5fdd removable, win 98, stupid erasor head mouse, yuo get the idea, It's the Thinkpad T20.

Sounds like a decent enough deal for a good entry-level notebook with a DVD drive and plenty of memory. The battery is the primary concern, but if you trust what the seller is telling you, then that should be no prob.

My current P3 laptop was $2200 retail, goes to show ya' the rapidly dropping prices for portable systems these days.

I think the kid I'm buying it off of is desperate for cash... thats why he let it go for so little.

Im buying by escrow so if its not what he says it is, then he don't get paid!! hehehehe
