Quarter-sawn oak has these
incredible "ray flakes" that bisect the grain. If you go with a darker stain or dye, they will show up, as these "ray flakes" don't take the stain.
So what you get is this
incredible articulation of this type of wood, and Quarter sawn Oak is the only wood that this can make this statement. But you have to treat it to make it a little darker.
Surreal, I have a secret formula for an Analine dye that you can mix up and treat it, it's kinda reddish, and when you lay the final finish on it, I
swear, you will simply not believe the beauty of it!
I'll be happy to send it to you. Quarter sawn oak, especially old stuff, is a
real treasure!
