Democrats Link Gun Rights to Terrorism
Newsmax
"Unlike current law, which mandates near-immediate destruction of records of background checks if the sale is approved, Lautenberg's proposal would allow authorities to maintain the registry of new gun owners "indefinitely."
"Germany's "Law on Firearms and Ammunition" required all firearms to be registered with the federal government. Although the law was passed in 1928, prior to the Nazis coming to power, Hitler's regime used the registration lists to confiscate firearms belonging to Jews and suspected "sympathizers."

Those that dont study history are doomed to repeat it. the question is, are these people doing it on purpose or are they actually naive?

Every time gun legislation is proposed, this hoary chestnut about Nazi Germany is hauled out. They seem to think it's fair to be comparing Democrats with Hitler.
But when I pointed out a historical parallel between the Nazi excuses for invading Poland and certain current events, I got hammered for being unfair -- and falsely accused of providing a phony (or undocumented) quote.
Consider your gander sauced.

Theo - i think both arguments are out of context. I doubt that democrats have insidious plans to ... hmmmm.... actually I'll have to rethink that one! They seem pretty hell-bent at trying to make us socialist!
But back to my point - your "historical parallel" didn't wash, and neither does the Nazi comparison here. I still disagree with the proposal, and entirely agree with those who oppose it. Why certain democrats want to oppose the second amendment is beyond me.
Actually, i guess it makes sense. They've already raped the hell outta the first amendment, i guess they're just going in order.

Well to put it into perspective, countries which ban guns have a lower crime rate (compared to the US). Its just a simple as that. Japan, Singapore, Australia etc.....
But people here want to have guns for some reason...."right to bear arms" is so old, IMO its time to put it to bed...... |

sounds like a perfect recipe for disaster.
The right to bear arms is a quintessential checks and balances thing embroidered into the Constitution to keep the government honest.
Besides, banning guns only removes guns from the hands of the innocent and empowers the criminal. Because criminals don't really care if the gun they use is legal or not. And they will get one if they want one.
Other countries aren't like the US. They don't have the same kind of diversity we do.

But you, as well as anyone you know has the perfect right not to buy a gun!
You want to give up your rights, & I think it's foolish. But you also want me to give up my rights, and that's not gonna fly.
