Vale, Possum Bourne

Possum Bourne, an icon in world rally motorsport, died in a New Zealand hospital after receiving injuries in a practice crash. He will be sadly missed by the motorsport community. He was top bloke, and won the last 7 Australian Rally Championships with Subaru.

Damn shame anytime anyone dies but it happened doing something he loved. Just gotta feel sorry for his wife and 3 kids.


Oh BTW Ralley drivers are truly crazy, most other series have walls, guardrails or haybales and tire barriers to protect them but to rally at top speed with trees, rocks and cliffs etc takes balls

The saddest thing is he wasn't even in a race - just checking out a track on a public road, and was hit by a fellow rally driver doing the same thing.

The other fellow only got a leg fracture, I think.

Possum was one of those legendary characters.
All his success was a result of his own hard work.
At just 47 he was seemingly at the top of his game.

This will leave a huge hole in Australian rallying.

My condolences to his family.
And his Subaru Team.
