Why not just go the old fashioned route with those fly strips that hang from the ceiling?

Those things catch them like mad then just replace when they get full.

Catch one fly, and in front of all the others, slowly pull off all its legs and beat it with them. Then use a soldering wand to burn its rectum. Then feed it with small amounts of bleach, not enough to kill it, but put it in miserable pain. Then slowly lower it into a cup of acid, any kind will do, by a thread through the abdomen, only burn off its wings, then drop it into an ant hill, after coating it with powdered suger, that will learn the rest to stay away

That only works with people...

I must confess I agree with the electronic bugzappers already suggested. We have flies the size of small birds here in the summer - the electronic bug zappers work wonders at barbie time... and they help keep the mozzies occupied as well!

Other than that - use Mortein. In liberal quantities as needed. Works against Louie.

Cheers
Mick

so many good ideas

I'm going to have to give the free ones a try. I'd like to watch them drop and burn, but I've used hairspray/bic combo before and I'm worried about them flying a little and then smashing into my lawn as little burning buggers from hell.

I'm going to look into all of these ideas though! Thanks peoples!

Locusts. THey'll fix ya up.

Seiously though we had a fly problem. Then one day a tree that was old outback needed cut down cause it was dropping BIG limbs all over. Guess where they were. In the tree. No kidding breeding in the tree. That ended that. If they are the smaller flies Ive found them coming out of the ground in small holes like ants make but little larger. Are you near the woods?

I would try this. Flys like something sweet, or sometimes something that smells like meat. Anyone from (or in california) may recognize the name Jalama Beach. It's a beach located near Lompoc/Santa Barbara. Anyhow, at the beach, the rangers had become sooooooo fedup with wasps going after everyone. The beach is near alot of mountains, has a stream running from way back in the mountains to the shore, and wasps are always darting around the trash cans. They took a 7up bottle (2 liter) use whatever you want, and put a sticky sweet solution into it. They would fly in, and get trapped in the sticky sweet mess. You might be able to do this with the flys. Try the aquanet also. Hell, that crap would drop a T-Rex! You could buy it by the drum practically. How old is your house? Do you have a crawl space between the house? do you have trashcans near that part of the house? Dog Run? Take out anything that would harbor flies. Do they only come around summer time?

Dane

EDIT: forgot to tell how funny it was seeing the wasps all caught in the mess!!! Saw lots of them drowning!! They would fill up those things pretty quick. That was in 1995, so many years ago. Dunno if they still use them.

my buddy uses this bag that you get from the hardware store. its plastic and is filled with some powder. you add water and then hang it. it smells awful, but about every month he empties it and it is so full of flies its disgusting. i dont know the name of it, but he gets it at home depot. its a plastic bag with an opening. labeled for fly exterminantion.
