I was using the @home service and lost my internet connection last night around 10:30. I did not notice this until this morning. So I went to work and tried to call them all day to see if it was because of @home going down or some other reason. I kept getting a busy signal. When I got home I tried again and then started to call their tech support. After about an hour I finally got through and talked to a level one tech for about 15 min. She then put me on hold to transfer me to level 2. I sat on hold so long that the battery in my phone went dead. I switched phones and got through and again transfered to level 2. I waited on hold for about 5 min when the tech comes back on the phone to check on me. I asked her if they could call me back since the battery on the cell phone was low. She said sure. That was about 2 hours ago.
So I am sitting here thinking about the situation on why I can not connect. I opened a dos window and tried to ping our server at work. I got a response OK I say I have connection to the outside world but why can't I see it. I sit back for about 45 min talking with the wife and kids when it dawns on me.
I open up my browser and go into the configuration of the router. there staring right at me is the reason that I can not connect.
either they changed your IP addy or your DNS servers and didnt give yah the info. If your on DHCP then a reboot of the router probably would have fixed it.
Man I should have known better then to try and stump people here. DNS was correct. I had released and renewed the IP but did not take notice to the DNS. SInce I have a network here at home I did not change it on the local machine. Once I did bingo I am back at TechIMO postin and readin.
