Anti-Muslim discrimination -- by American Express?
Another unpleasant story (and yes, it is a liberal web site); longish, but very interesting.

Sounds like a class action lawsuit in the making. Sad behavior.

The bad part of this is that AMEX will get away with it if we dont do something about it. Unfortunately I dont think anyone will.
I mean "Hey, if it doesnt affect us then it doesnt matter!"
RIGHT??

I've never liked AMEX's business practices and have torn up every credit card offer I get from them. Vote with your wallet. That's what hurts them the most. it's the only pain big business understands.

This is very disturbing if it is true. I haven't seen it reported anywhere else though, and American Express is being targeted by anti-war people. It makes me wonder.

Strange? Why would they pick on only 11 or 12 arab named people? It would appear that perhaps the war is more of a vendetta of perhaps one employee trying to right the wrongs he perceived.
No matter how you would slice it one would think that this would be much larger in scale if it was a corporate plan to get people with arab names. If not just arab names what do you think the trigger might have been?
all I can say is strange. If true then clearly wrong and should be corrected.

City Limits has found 12 cases in which Muslims, nearly all Pakistani-Americans, with good credit, all of whom claim they made no unusual or exorbitant charges or late payments, had their American Express credit cards cancelled. We found no cases of non-Muslims' credit cards being cancelled outright, or even non-Muslims who were asked to send in paperwork for existing accounts.
| My question is how hard did they look for these non-minorities. I'd bet not too hard. It could be discrimination or it could be more media sway...take it as you will.
