What was your first job?

I was 13 and got a paper route.Did this for about 8 months.Every morning up at 4 to deliver papers 7 days a week and everyday I went by one house with 5 dogs that seemed to enjoy chasing me everyday all the while scaring the BJesus out of me.I never got a rest from them damn dogs.I swear they were laughing, not barking as I went passed them.Broke two windows while throwing papers at doorsteps. Always carried ten dollars with me to leave incase I did such.It was fun unless it was winter.Riding a bike in 2 feet of snow and ice is not fun when going downhill. All and all I hated it. But, it taught me the value of money. I lost the route when the newspaper "Cincinnati Enquirer" decided to consolidate a bunch of small routes. Thus ending the era of paperboy on bike.

Aside from substituting for the regular newspaper kid and one awful day at a carwash, my first job was as a gopher at a large butcher shop. Nasty, hard work.

Loved the biscuits! Back then we actually had a lady come in and make them every morning... nowadays they're frozen

dairy queen burger flipper and such. i got suckered in to it, i applied for the mini golf attendant, and i went for my first day and they said they just wanted to train me at the DQ in case it got busy (the DQ and the mini golf were owned by the same 60 yr old couple who won the lottery 30 years ago) so i thought that was fine and for six months i worked the mini golf place 2 days when the owners went to vegas, when they came back, the male owner took it back over.

My first job was as a ‘line boy’ at the local Cessna dealer. I towed planes, washed and fueled them. Swept out the hangars and did all kinds of jobs. I remember cleaning out a cargo plane one day. It was 110 degrees outside on the ramp and the plane had been used to haul a load of fish and after that some live hogs. The smell was unbelievably bad and the heat was sweltering. I didn’t make any money. In exchange for my labor they taught me to fly.

My first job was sacking groceries at an Air Force Base commissary. I was 14 and my dad was stationed in Duluth Minn.

We worked for tips only but I made enough money to buy a used snowmobile. It was a little rough in the winter though. Running in and out of a warm grocery store to a freezing parking lot to carry groceries to Air Force personnel's autos.

The worst time was after a hard snow. The weather would usually turn bitterly cold and freeze the snow into little berms caused by the traffic in the parking lot. Hard to negotiate a bag boy cart thru all those little frozen mounds.
