Back From Vegas

Hi everyone! Got back from Vegas last night. Good trip. I won about $600 on the tables and my wife lost about $250. My last night on the tables was horrific to say it mildly. I dropped about $350 in 8 hours otherwise it would have a very profitable trip. At least I made enough to pay for the air and hotel.

Spent a lot of $$$ though. When you have your kids with you the money seems to vanish even faster. Over $300 for Siegfried and Roy and I didn't go with them.

My son's baseball team was eliminated in the semi-finals. As I feared he didn't play one inning. He did get to pinch run and pinch hit one time. Some of the kids didn't even do that much. How can a coach expect all the parents to put out that much money and not even play some of them one inning? It was a tournament after all. It had not effect on the CFI standings. Of the four games we played we won 10 - 0, 12 - 4 and 10 - 0. and you can't get a kid into the game for one inning at those scores? We lost the semi-final 6 - 5 and were eliminated.

On a sour note, I dropped my car off to have it painted while I was gone and chose an off-white color. It's "off-white" alright, it's closer to freaking YELLOW than white!!! Almost crapped my pants when I saw it and there's nothing I can do about it.

Looks like no one got banned while I was gone.

WB Bill.sounds like you had a good time.

I would discuss (loudly) the fact that yellow isn't off-white.

Your son's coach should be ashamed of himself. These are 12yr olds correct? they play 6 innings - I know it can be tough to get every one in if the 10 run rule is in effect after 4 - especially if you score most of the runs in the 4th.

But for longer games, there's no excuse. The coach has to recognize that yes, we want to win, but more than that, we want to play.

High-school ball, Legion ball, college ball are different. But 12yr old baseball - there is no excuse.

Cheers,

Ken

It is high school ball but, still, a lot of people spent a lot of money to go to the tournament which, while not mandatory, really was. When you have that big of a lead I think you can get some players into the game.

The team had a 10 PM curfew and the coach said if it was violated those players would not start. Guess what? 4 starters violated the curfew (out past midnight) and not only did they start, they played the entire game. So much for credibility!!

We are not allowed to speak to the coach. He made it clear before the season that he would not discuss playing time or his coaching decisions with any of the parents ever.

ya that about sucks if they set a rule they should stick with it . this kinda coach made my son quit football after his freshmen year . they were a bad team but the coach wouldn't even put the bench kids in even with a lopsided score in the 4th quarter. if you are up big or loseing big all the damn kids should get a chance to play . they all put the time in to practice .... but coaches today its all about winning . not about the game ...

Play Craps...you never lose...you have to play conservatively though so it take all night to win money.
