Why is TIMO so wonderful?

why do u think techimo is so succesful and the best tech site out there? obviously its the people who make it up but what got those people to come here? what made techimo be much better than other similar sites?

Well, I think you have to start before TIMO and go back to systpop. The whole concept of a friendly, well-moderated forum where you could discuss technical issues and not get flamed/bullied is, IMO, the basis on which the greatness of TIMO has been founded.

Anyhow, you can always read Scott's suggestions from his TechTV segment for a great on-line community, and see if TIMO fits the bill.

I origionaly came here trying to find out what MTDLR is missing ment. I found it.

Then I explored the site and joined, cause it looked half decent. I think I actually joined because I wanted to post a reply to something.

The rest is just not-so-ancient history.

Its the fact that flames etc are frowned on here and dealt with well, despite recent threads. I just came here becuase cystpop was getting worse and worse. I severely regretted not making the move back in 2001. Other places don't really have such a sense of 'family' and thats what makes a community.

I have joined about other 4 forums but haven't visited any(except AT to sell a few items) of them in th recent months. Mainly because I was kinda scared of the people that posted at some of those sites.

As Mick & Chris pointed out, TechIMO is a refreshing change from the usual mindless crap you have to endure at most sites.

I got so, oh-so very tired of all the language, smart-assed remarks and people who'd LIE to you and send you in the wrong direction just to laugh because you just lost 12 hrs production.

Little do they know that a business like mine can lose $480,000 in a 12 hr period of down time,, things like that tend to be less than funny..

Here, you can relax, voice an honest opinion with little chance of getting laughed at or sent south when you needed to go NorthWest

you can find someone who knows something for usually any situation, be it normal, or a little strange
also, its usually very fast, in terms of replies
