As if parents didnt have enough to worry about

Pale Rider of Apocalypse Riding Into Toy Stores

Is it just me or are the games getting worse and worse?

[sorta rant]
no game will ever be as violent, or disturbing as real life
i am all for violent games.. it doesnt make people violent.. it doesnt make children killers.. all it does is entertain, as most people are already desensitised to the content through actual events. anyone who is not probably does not have to worry about even getting the game, so why whine and try to ruin it for the rest of us? if someone doesnt like a games content, dont buy it, its simple. oh no, a prostitute, i am going to kill my next door neighbor now (sarcasm of course)
i am sure game content will continue to get "worse", as there is no limit of the possibilities. if you want to blame someone, or something for the violence children are faced with, blame their parents, or blame world leaders. not saying anything about you, it is just a generalization. so no offence to anyone intended.
sounds like a fun game, if i wasnt cheap i would probably buy it.. if it got good reviews..
[/sorta rant]

sorry if i repeated anything.. it just annoys me to no end when people go on about video game violence.. "oh, wont somebody pleeeease think of the children!!!" - should have thought about them before that six pack

ok, enough

The vast majority of children can play a game and keep it in perspective. Some can not. The parents of the can nots know who they are. Parents should censore the material from kids who can not perceive a difference between gaming world and real world. [rant off]

It's a clever idea for a game. The Apocalypse is a thriller even without the eye candy.

Re: As if parents didnt have enough to worry about

Actually, they're not... new people just keep coming along to be offended by them. Certainly the graphics are making them more realistic; but no more realistic are the renditions of violence, in the games (if that, indeed is the primary fear), than that which can be found in movies, unsanitized news reports, etc.

But as new games manage to reach the public eye and be deemed controversial, they invariably reach some people who had not heard about or noticed previous such video game (or movie or music or whatever) controversies. So if you weren't aware of the industry enough to be offended by games like Mortal Kombat in 96 or Carmageddon in 97 or Kingpin in 99 or the GTA series in the last few years, then it may well seem new; but it's not.

What level of violence or sex or profanity it takes to offend people may well shift... but their readiness to be offended has existed for time immemorial.

I'm a parent....and I'm a fan of violent games. Parents should just use thier OWN judgement pertaining to the maturity level of thier OWN children and whether or not violent games are appropriate.

MOH does not have enough blood for my kids.

My 8 year old daughter was commenting on how when ones head is removed that blood squirts much farther than in most games. She reminded me of the time she cut the head off of the dog.

I have no problem with her entertaining such games. Especially when she uses such scientific methods to pick them to pieces.
