Why only 64x64

Is it because of server space or what I am not trying to complain but everytime I see an avatar that I want it is too large.

Maybe I am missing something here but I replied to the o minister of avatars and no one responded to me.

Anyway I was just curious if in the future maybe we could enlarge the size? Thanks Rockpile

Why not just resize them? Try this free online gif tool:

omega31 is right on. just resize it!

A program I usually use to resize images is XnView (freeware!)

Open the image, press Shift + S to resize (and save).

I've found that 64x64 is a pretty generous size considering that none of the other forums I visit allow avatars that large. Still, making them any bigger just doesn't make sense to me - larger images can be a real killer on a slow connection..

64x64 is large enough for most avatars. You will find a good scaling routine provides the best resizing option. GIMP's internal scaler offers great results IMO.
