RE: Scott's thread on bannings

I was going to add this to his thread but deceided to make my own.

I feel ashamed that Scott's thread had to get disgraced in this way. He posted what was happening with the bans. Yet his thread gets crapped on, everybody has to put in their opinion on what they feel should have been done.

What really bothers me is that the thread crapping that happens isn't from Junior members but from Senior and Ultimate members.

He (Scott) is the boss the mods are his department heads. If you have a problem do go up to your boss and tell him? NO that's what the department heads are for... They discuss the problem and then present the facts to the boss and say what decision they came to.

I've seen this happen a few times since I've been here... Everybody gets questioning the mods bans and, I believe, out of sheer frustration they have to get Scott to come in and explain things.

I'm sure the mods are getting fed up with all the questioning of thier decisions. I know I would.

From what I've seen everybody gets a second chance. It might be a PM from the mods or their posts being edited pointing out what not to do/say. But in some cases this gets ignored.. The result is a ban.

I don't like it myself when some of the long time members get banned but after reading the forums and see the edits I realize that there was a good reason.

I see that Surreal is trying to get things back on track and explain things with her new thread. http://www.techimo.com/forum/t60823.html

IMO there are a few people that I would like to see banned but whenever they post I don't read it because I know that I would have nothing nice to say to them and it would result in a big flame war. So I just stay away.

I think that is all I have to say right now..

***Note*** This message took me over 30 min to type out because of all the editing I had to do. Taking out irrelevent stuff and also taking out all the bad language

This is becoming ridiculous guys. All of these banning taking place over people's disagreements, public arguments, and failure to abide by the rules stated in the FAQ. I will admit that I don't agree with everything that goes on around here (when pertaining to banning and administrative action), but I usually keep my opinions private, and take up my grievances with the administrators of this site. I keep quiet and avoid public outburst of my emotion, because I know it'll just land me in trouble. Like Bones, I do not like to see senior members (people that have been around a while), or IMO excellent members being banned over such silly things. It's absurd.

IMO, we need to stop with these threads. No more postings, no more flaming, no more arguments...in public. It's not going to get us anywhere screaming and yelling in forums at another member / moderator/ administrator. If you've got something against someone, take it up with them. Don't talk and complain to the community, it's not their business. Go directly to the person whom you have a grievance with, and speak directly to them. If that does not work, and you decide to leave TechIMO entirely, or go somewhere else (as we did with SysOpt), feel free.

I'd be happy to join ya.

I second that. Its just getting silly, more people will get banned, then there will be uproar about that and then more people will get banned and we will get fewer and fewer.

If they don't want us to crap on them, then I think they should STOP making the banning threads, or lock them like surreal did his. I think they're asking for it IMO.

Yea, I was gonna say I thought surreal was a her. Then again with the privacy of the internet..... J/J.

I agree, with bones, but also with what MD said. (to an extent)

Blaze

EDIT:

Don't want to turn this into a contravesal issue or crap this tread, but why are the MOD's showing us parts of Private Messages, considering that they are suppose to be private. Are they not violating their own rules?

Nothing against what they are doing, however.

runs and hides
