President Bush reported $856,056 in adjusted gross income for last yr and paid $268,719, or about 31%, in federal income taxes.

Bush and his wife, Laura, listed as income the salary he earned as president and investment income from trusts in which their assets are held.

The income and tax figures were a bit higher than the previous yr, when the Bushes reported $811,100 in adjusted gross income and paid $250,202, also about 31% in federal income taxes.

i agree about the salary as well, but almost always a president these days already has a lot of money in order to fund the campaign, even with the backing of their party. I mean, look at ross perot, he didn't get presidency, but he wasn't exactly in grinding poverty...

the money for presidency must be like the money it takes to pay for the gold plated hammers, and $20,000 toilets that they buy on an annual basis

When compared to what athletes and movie stars make The President is under paid, I think his job is a bit more important than a "Movie Star"

I guess you're right about that. Beying reponsable for such a big country and such a military force should be paid better.
