BBQ or Gas Grill?

If you had a choice, which would you choose, a BBQ or Gas Grill and why?

I bought a cheap gas grill from RiteAid this week for $14.99 and it comes with lava rocks. I wonder what the deal with that is.

BBQ !!!!!!!!!!
We have an old gas grill converted to coals ( a peice of aluminum foil over the original burners). Works great and the meat tastes much better.

bbq with 'real' charcoal (not briquettes),
burns hotter and longer or
smoker with special wood (hmmmm, that pear tree)

gas grills are quick and easy but we never had one last very long,so the cheaper, the better!

Easier - Gas grill

Quality - Gotta go for the BBQ!

Charcoal if you have the time. Especially for chicken since it always seems to burn on a gas grill. For steaks though I cook them very rare and covered in Worchestershire sause so a gas grill works fine.

Being that I work in a millwork factory, I have ready access to hickory scraps

I use a gas grill for ease of use and speed, but I put a tin can full of hickory chips down inside the grill just above the burners. The chips smoke, but don't flame, and add a great flavor to anything that I'm cooking on the grill

I make the hickory chips by feeding the scraps (after ripping them down to 1" x 1" sticks) thru my branch chipper (thank you Troybilt)
