This is wild!

CE and I were looking for some climbing varities of flowers, when we came across a variety of Clematis, and it was the perfect type we were looking for! What had us both in shock was, the one individual name of one of the plants, Dr Ruppel..........

That is our last name!!

We suspect, but have no conformation yet, that it may have been named by one of CE's Aunts or Uncles!

Oh yeah! He developed it for you guys!

hehe, I know what you mean, I was in high school when I discovered that my own grandfather was the very first to plant a Valencia orange tree in California!!

There it was, in black-and-white! Cool, huh?

Ahhh Dr. Rupel is so pretty!!! I have just planted out this average sized bed at the "V" in the driveway. Underplanted with white impatens, white begonias, baordered with lirope and mini mondo, with 5' white dogwoods in bloom. The tree at the center died last year due to too much shade, repaced with another dogwood, didn't do well. I needed something tall there to make it easy to see while navigating the driveway. I've been planning alot of red white and blue in the yard. So I got this real nice 4-sided oblisky wire thing. I selected a beautiful red cleamtis to grow up it (clematis like to have thir roots well shaded). It just bloomed a pretty light lavender. rats.rats.rats!!!! I really wanted that splash of red there..... oh, well, back to play in the mud and trying to get as dirty as possible!!!

let's see today planting of more impatens, begonias, peter pan, and about 20 other misc, incl 3 flats of nicotiana in red for the hummers(seeded in my little greenhouse).....

gotta thousand dogwood seeds to start too...

and then there's the herb and pepper garden, the vines, and on and on and on.......
