when i had my old website paymetosurf.net going i had a rubber stamp made and stamped every dollar bill i saw dont know if its legal but it got lots of hits for me

Defacement of Currency

Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined not more than $100 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

I have seen dollar bills with a cartoon balloon stamp by Washingtons head saying "I grew hemp". There are also bills around with a web address stamped on it to post where you are so that the circulation of that bill can be followed. I have never heard of any kind of problem with this type of "defacement"
