That's not new news, guys. That's been known since about the 50's.
The incidence of Kuru has decreased drastically in New Guinea in the past few decades, but cases still do occur due to the long incubation period of the disease.
The interesting thing is now they can detect the prions (which supposedly cause Kuru), and the research shows some prion protection in those who didn't die.
So, if ya wanna be safe from mad cow disease, eat a mad cow and become immune.
or better yet, eat a mad cow patient!
