Desert town doesn't sell on Ebay

BFE doesn't sell very well

Gee I wonder why, its almost to Needles CA, the hottest place in the country!!

Bidding on the auction site eBay ended Friday after a month on the Internet auction site with no offers reaching the minimum reserve price. Amboy, with seven residents, has a listed value of $1.9 million, but the top bid reached only $995,900.
Amboy has a post office, motel, cafe, gas station, church, gift shop and two landing strips. A buyer also gets about 540 acres of surrounding land divided in five parcels. The town is owned by celebrity photographer Timothy White and his business partner, Walt Wilson.
Who in the world (other than these 2 ) would want to buy a town out in the middle of the desert?!

Granted I don't know the area, but it doesn't exactly sound like prime tourism real estate!

Actually, Amboy deserves a closer look. If not for Roy's Motel and Café, a time capsule of early 1950s kitsch, when Route 66 was king and cars didn't have air-conditioning, then for one of the most unique desert experiences -- a hike into a 6,000-year-old volcano.

Unbelievable (as crammed as we live here) !
