Too good to be true!? Phone - Long distance

All of my calls are long distance to MI, OH and Canada so I'm thinking this is a great deal..

.. but I can't find the catch
I just checked our current bill, and it seems we get charged 38 bucks for Verizon, and another 30 bucks for MCI before the long distance gets added on. (I could be wrong, but either way I save due to long distance charges)

They don't tell you if the $50 covers just connection charges or if it covers the phone service too. Out typical bill is around $50 so I don't think this would save us too much.

Looks like a pretty good deal, though. I think this flat rate stuff is an attempt to keep up with all the wireless deals.

I have the MCI WorldCom plan that has unlimted LD, unlimited international calls and local phone coverage as well. They advertise it as $50/ month ($52 for the unlimitedinternational LD), but it comes to $73 with taxes. It is still a better deal than paying for all of the calls I make and the local phone. We save between $25 and $50/ month. The key that surprised me is that they have not charged me for anything else, other than calling information. I keep looking for them to slip up and charge me more for LD calls, but they never have and I've been on the plan for about 6 months. I also get call waiting, caller ID and voice mail. I think I get otehr features as well, but I never use them. All of it for $73/ month.

This of course depends on your needs. If you call LD alot, then it is a steal. They even have plans for cell phones, but since I don't have a cell, I didn't take it. It sounded cheap though.
