Interesting. I have never heard of SO troops fighting in civies. My impression has been that they used the civies (civilian clothes) for intelligence gathering, which is different from what some others are currently doing. I have known many SO guys, but of course I am not in their circle on a "need to know" basis, so I don't know the whole story. I think their commanders are the only ones who know whether they fight in civies or not, at least until some sort of inquiry is made.

That was entirely uncalled for. Just because someone points out a discrepancy, it DOES NOT MEAN they are unpatriotic. Making sure the US government lives up to the standards it sets for others is patriotic, too.

I believe that this is called spying. Not typically the same as risking civillian deaths to achive a military goal. Did you suspect that special ops was running in and out of baghdad with a big old flag on their back.

I disagree. First, the discrepancy here is implied. Were the SO soldiers fighting in civilian clothes in order to draw the opposition into killing more civilians? Is that what is meant by "It's okay when we do it, of course..."? What these SO units are doing is an entirely different situation.

It's OK to point out discrepancies in our actions when they exist. It's not OK to make crap up. And I think it's unpatriotic to speek to only the negative things this country does. If it's so bad then move.
