Could TechIMO use a redesign?

A friend of mine did this mockup of a possible TechIMO redesign. The image is set for a width of 800 pixles wide, but the idea is it would scale wider if you had a bigger screen.

What do you think about the design?

I like it. Less 'distracting' of my eyes to all the 'flashy' stuff. I also like the recent threads on the top-left instead of having to scroll down to the bottom. Nice job, 'friend'!!

Hmmm, I'm divided. It's incredibly clean, which I like, but perhaps a bit lacking in distinctive personality.

It's a little like home decor. A few years back, I was figuring out how this place (my house) should look..."Hi-Tech"? Pure "Mission" style? What?

I settled on "hodge-podge", which I think has lots more personality.


Not to mention, upkeep is at a real minimum.

This site definitely needs a redesign. My other forum is being redesigned, why can't this one? It looks so dull. That theme is excellent, MJ!!

I come in straight to the forums---have only been to the frontpage a half-dozen times in the past couple years yet I access TechIMO 20-30 times aday---others might notice a change alot more then me in that respect...

Exactley what is so bad about the design that's in place now?

I like it.

Unique Bold logo....but small enough so as not to distract the users. But different enough you know right where you are.
White and blueish grey backgrounds with black text.......makes for GREAT reading. None better.

I've grown very fond of Techimo's layout actually

The logo on the redesign is "blah". I guess if you kept the current logo it would be fine....but I definatley like the current logo better than the redesign.

Just my 2 pennies worth
