Well folks,

I just got some very bad news today, I moved into this house with the understanding between myself and the landlord that I would be able to stay here for a minumum of 2 years to a maximum of 5 years. I have only been in this house for almost 6 months, well now they are saying they lost thier job at the other place (managing apts) and can not afford to rent or purchase another home. so I have gotten my 30 day notice. This could not have come at a worse time at all!

Needless to say, my christmas plans have all blown to tweaking hell and I seriously doubt we will have christmas this year as I will need to use every penny i got to be able to move and probably have to borrow onto my credit cards. ( i Hope not)

These people have been nothing but headaches but I still enjoyed living here even with the nitwits I have for landlords.

I don't know If i will have cable to the new place I find and I am not really going to have a whole lot of choices because of the fact im on the HUD program. bascially I move where HUD says I can live and this house im in now is a nice house.

I guess the bright side of this is that I won't have to deal with the dope dealers next door to me. But I still dont' want to move, Im not ready and I don't have a choice and I am boiling mad.

Wow, that really sucks man...I hope you find a new place soon...I'd let you stay here, but my apartment is a one-roomer @ 34 square meters and I live in Sweden...

Very sorry to hear this, NeoStar01. And with 2 young children, it really sucks.

But let me tell you something from personal experience- everytime something rotten happens, you get stronger and better. And, hopefully, get a better place.

But I know, its easier said. And can be trying for young children as well. They, like old folks, don't like to move houses for some reason. Guess gives them insecurity being in an unfamiliar place.

But kids are very resilient and everything will work out. Stay in touch.

Sorry to hear that dude....You dont have anything in writing?.....still then you may not need anything in writing if they stated a minimum of two years....I have heard of people going to court and winning over a verbal contract..

P.S......If you do have to leave.....leave a nice terd for them in the upper tank of each of the toilets....then use some really good glue to fasten the tanks.....nice and smelly for a while...

Did you sign a lease, maybe that can work for you if you did. Maybe make them put down the security deposit and first month or two rent for ya.

Not sure how much room you need or where you need to be in Portland, but I lived in a nice condo in Lake Oswego a couple years ago. The condos are called "Eaglecrest", on Eaglecrest Drive in Lake Oswego. Each unit is individually owned, has a great view of mt. hood, and it's just a couple minutes from I-5 and 15 minutes from downtown. I can give you the number of the woman who owned the one I rented (about $700/month I think).

yes kids are very resilient, the problem is I am not resilent, I don't handle changes well. I like staying in the same spot for quite a while. Have finals this week and next week and then trying to figure out what we are gonna do. Move of course, not much choice in that.

I'll find a bright spot somewhere.

Sad news indeed

I don't know how it is where you are,but around here you can't be evicted during the winter if you have small children. Check with your local Human Services Center , or even HUD, they should be able to help you.

Don't give up without a fight. Good Luck

If you move to a different part of town find out if your kids can stay in the same school. That helped a lot when I moved a year ago. I kept him in the same school and Cub Scout troop. He was thrilled that the district didn't force him to go to a school closer to us. He is still with all of his old friends and has made new ones around the neighborhood.
