My dad has cancer

Just found out that my dad's liver cancer has started growing... He just had surgery to remove it about 5 months ago and they thought that they got it all. But now it's started growing again around the "margins" of where they cut it out. He only has %40 percent of his original liver left and now its diseased.

I thought he was going to be ok after the surgery - now I am not so sure. I gotta be honest, I'm really scared about this. He and I have not always been the closest but hes my dad...

Things like this aren't supposed to happen to your parents, just other people that you read about in Readers Digest or something. Guess that is pretty naive...

If any of you have any words of advice or know a success story I could really really use it!

My prayers are with you and your father. As a dad I have made decisions that I know my kids do not understand or agree with and yet, in the end, I hope they will understand the "why" of the decisions. This is the time to "be close." It (the chance) doesn't come around too often too make this happen.

I hope your father pulls through and continues to live a normal life. You would be amazed what they can do with today's medicine. I lost my father to cancer when I was 5 (23 years ago), but it was because he waited too long before going to the doctor. It was too far gone for them to fix. I will keep your father and your family in my prayers.

I recently lost my Dad to cancer.

The best advice I can give you is to be there for him as much as you can.

Keep after the doctors, so they will keep him in mind.

And pray.

My wife lost her father to cancer just recently, and a good friend is dying from it also. Make the best of the time you have left.

It may be hard to do, but try to stay as positive as possible when you're with your dad. I really believe a positive attitude helps.
