U.S. troops killed seven Iraqi women and children at a checkpoint Monday when the van they were riding in would not stop as ordered, U.S. Central Command said

The seven dead and two wounded on Monday were among 13 women and children in a van that approached the checkpoint but did not stop, according to the Central Command statement.

It said soldiers motioned for the driver to stop but were ignored. The soldiers then fired warning shots, which also were ignored. They then shot into the vehicle's engine, but the van continued moving toward the checkpoint, according to the statement.

Could it be these civilians were "coached" by Iraqi officials to do exactly what they did?

Could not the trigger happy soldiers shoot the tyres instead of women and children?

They killed small children and women and now have ordered an investigation.

Guess what the investigation will reveal?

These soldiers should be court-martialed, tried for war crimes and executed. Bush keeps talking of war crimes by the enemy. Now is the time for him to act.

This is why I have always been calling Bush and his team a bunch of liars.

I normally don't say anything but that bites.
Why can't people leave the women and children out of it all? I don't belive women or children belong in that, either as a soilder or as a civilian. they should be protected.

It's an easy and effective way to ensure that the future generations won't turn into the present. I hate to say it, but it's the truth. Millions of years of human evolution has created the perfect killing specimen. Denying this fact only shows that one is unwilling to face the truth.

Blame this on Saddam's military tactics. If there hadn't been human shields/car bombing/etc this wouldn't have happened.
