Why are you alive today?

Tell us your war stories, How did you break your bones cut your skin and bruise your bottom. By all rights should you have survived to adult hood.

Me personally I have run myself over with my car

Ripped the tip of my finger off in the caliper of a car.

Landed posterior first after a bad motorcycle jump which turned my bike into a pretzel.

My friends home made firework sent shrapnel through my hand when I tried to take controll of a dangerous situation.

and the old christmas story red ryder bb-gun (you will shoot your eye out.)

then about 1,000,000 scars from sharp object, falls and terrible wipeouts.

I did very little until 66. Prior to late 65 I am guessing that I could be termed as half a being. As the material that made me up was an egg which had yet to be released from moms ovary.

Here is a good one at 3 I rewired a lamp that dad had taken apart by shoving the exposed wires up the shaft of the lamp and plugging it in as mom rounded the corner and watched the fireworks Kapowwwww sizzle snap krackle pop smolder. It actually lit for about the 1/10,000 of a second it took to blow the fuse.

Talk

I was scraping asbestos insulation off the ceiling of an office building in Boston. I was laying on top off some duct work and sliding myself further and further back into this really dark room. Finally my head slipped off the end of the duct. I rolled over and started reaching out into the void trying to find a wall or a switch. I couldn't see a thing. Finally the super climbed the ladder I came up and called for me. I answered and asked him what was at the end of this duct. He tells me it's an airshaft that goes to the basement of the building. I was on the 17th floor. So there I was, hanging off the end of a duct just inches from a 17 story drop.

I've also been launched across the room from an electric shock, had a bullet whiz by my head (buzzzzzzzz), fell 75 ft from a hovering helicopter during a rappeling exercise (talk about burned hands from grabbing the rope) and been launched from a motorcycle after a collision with a Camaro.

Ah, the good ol' days.

OOOOO that reminded me of something. I was working in a warehouse attic going to get some more packing material and throw it down from the loft. I spotted my target and decided to take a short cut. breaking into a run I leapt over a pallet of zerox paper stacked 1 high when all of a sudden all went black. apparently in the dim light I failed to notice the 10 inch I beam. My brain bounced off the front of my skull and an hour or so later someone came looking for me. I was comming around when they got there, my head glued to the box in a pool of blood.

I do remember one final thought prior to my mind going black. I had a fleeting thought of hitting an un-seen dark force which I interperated as an force field.

I have no idea...when I saw the title of this thread I knew immediately what Epi was talking about!

Three (well, actually two) near-fatals on motorcycles (why do I still ride one?? );

I don't wish to be a bad influence on our younger friends here, so I won't go into details about those long-ago drug days, but I brushed wings with death very seriously once;

Almost snuffed it as a kid exploring the drain system of L.A. when there was a sudden flash flood....We literally got to the entrance point just in time (in fact, floated up to it!

Oddly, very few broken bones (6).

I think somebody up there just likes me!

M_six - remember that OSHA and the EPA were busy protecting you from the dangers of asbestos.

North Vietnamese coast artillery had a shot at me and a couple of hundred other guys. I've been in two bad car wrecks, just missed by the May 1999 Oklahoma tornado, took a couple of good jolts from 220 and 277 volts.

Sometimes I figure that my angel's been on overtime.
