Gaming Peter Arnett Fired, now should he be tried for Treason ?

NBC, MSNBC & National Geographic have announced that they have severed ties to Peter Arnett following his controversial comments and his granting an interview with the enemy during time of war.

His comments gave comfort to the enemy, a treasonous act.
I submit that he be tried for treason and given a prison term.
Geraldo Rivera also needs time to think over his actions that may have cost US/Allied lives..

CNN, Arnett out after Iraqi TV interview

NBC fired journalist Peter Arnett on Monday

Sean Hannity was speaking with Colonel Hackworth last week and complaining about Arnett. Hackworth had only nice things to say about Arnett, based on his performance during the Vietnam war. I wonder if he'll change his tune this week.

Arnett is getting so much publicity he'll probably get snapped by another network. And make a couple of million from NBC breaking his contract.

Looks like a win-win for Arnett.

He'll write a book, make millions, and retire.

He's no more of a traitor than several members on TechIMO. He just used a different media.

Wrong J-Excel!!

You have not seen anyone at TechIMO kissing Sadam's south 40, while praising the Iraqi troops for doing an outstanding job!

Peter was a naturalized citizen, and probably won't be coming back stateside. If he does, he will face hard times finding employment here.

If he does write a book, I doubt it will sell very well here. It may sell well in France and the middle east though!

You would think that after he made up the story about how the U.S. had used sarin nerve gas on it's own troups during the vietnam war (several years back) that his career would have been over then. Perhaps there are some jobs available to him in France.

I second the proposal for Arnett being tried for treason.

He did REAL BAD by his actions and comments. Ain't never should've happened.....

Thank goodness NBC, MSNBC and National Geographic have some integrity to do the right thing.....

integrity, nahhhhh!!!

The lack of integrity showed in the initial defending and then the flip flop to firing him. No integrity just fear of ratings backlash..

No one commented on my observation that peeple that leeked the secrets should be also held accountable (in the other Arnett post).

My point was should not the Military Generals who revealed tactics/strategy/game plan also be responsible for this?

absolutely. However Arnett was not leaking information he was spreading rumor and speculation as fact. ~"Our first plan obviously failed due to the superb military tactics of your army."
