YAWT: Iraq Air Defense Commander fired

Yet Another War Thread…

Looks like after all of the propaganda Iraq is admitting that the civilian bomb casualties in the markets in Baghdad are their own fault. The blasts don’t match those of the US missiles. If they were US missiles there’d have been a heck of a lot more damage. And Cruise missiles don’t detonate unless they hit their targets. If they miss the warheads don’t even activate. The US can account for all 7 Cruise missiles that missed. Now, Saddam fired his Commander of Air Defense. The speculation is that it’s because of the AAA that malfunctioned, causing the blasts in the two market places.

I still feel sorry for those injured and dead, and their families. But this is good news for the coalition since they are the only side working to minimize civilian casualties in this war.

Do they fire people over there? I thought they just send them to the front lines like Germany used to.

What was the source for this story? Hard to believe Iraq would admit anything. According to official Iraqi sources, only two soldiers have died.

Wouldn't him being sent home to his family dead in a garbage bag be more Saddams style?

No, being sent home in a body bag is just a demotion in Iraq. When you're fired you get to drive the next "suicide taxi".

Good point, Shahani, when you're a close relative, you have earned the privilege of a quick, painless execution.
