Williamsburg Bridge (NYC) Closed--Suspicious activity

The Williamsburg Bridge in NYC has been closed and two men have been taken into custody after they were seen by alert workers on the bridge acting in a suspicious manner. Apparently, they were carrying packages and attempted to rappel off the bridge.

WNYC just reported this.

Good, I haven't heard anything after the original report. I was hoping it was just some quacky peace advocates.

Gold dipped $1 on the initial news. Seems soem dudes were acting suspiciously so they closed the bridge as a precaution.

Just found this:

"Alcohol" seems to have been involved (to no one's surprise).

ahhhhh finklefart. It is one tiny little bridge, how much traffic could it possibly carry? Probably did not disrupt 50 to 100 peoples lives at all.

The Bizarre Member Epidemic underestimates the "terror effect" in NYC.

LOL!!

Shahani, you work in the city, right?

I don't work in the city (Thank God!!), but several friends do and the stories they tell are amazing. The ripple effect of one little incident like this can be catastrophic in a city already busting at the seams. The incident this morning even closed the train lines that use this bridge.

Osprey4, I used to work till March 2002 when I got errr....downsized. Love that word-downsized. Actually I got fired because the Company started going downhill after 9/11 (we were 2 blocks east of Ground Zero) and started laying off people after business started going south.

Now, I'm in Paramus - 9 miles drive on Route 4 West. Very peaceful but I miss going to NYC.
