Anyhow, take the road over Banning Pass (Windmills generating Electricity with the Santa Ana winds) toward the Coast. Pick up some dried fruit near the Denny's.
And if you brealk north on I-5, you'll hit Camp Pendleton. Takes a half hour to drive past it ! And that's in good times. Or head south toward Del Mar, where the Caltrains run ON the beach !
Or head south toward Coronado and buy a room for One DooG/one CaaT for two weeks at the Coronado Hotel. Feels like you're in the 'Great Gatsby era'.
Ah ! and do crash the Best Western in Downtown Palm Springs ! Nice 'hang-out' pool..
By the way, you might notice that all the Towns in the Valley are to the south of the Highway [except one].
There is a reason for that.....the Santa Ana winds ! I think you can rent a windmill in Banning Pass in return for Electricity. Fax it to me if you don't need it.
And if you take the Tram [da DooG DOOG ..err.."humanoided-out"], remember, you are going up like 1 1/2 miles in about 12 minutes. Bring your own Oxygen !
In case you are wondering where all the water comes from for all those pseudo-golf courses, Palm Springs sits not on an Aquafer that drains but and underground river ! Ever renewable water in the Mohave Dessert.
Watch out for those cute cacti that "throw" darts at you if you touch it ! Keep your beard undert control !
If you havn't been before, the town of Palm Springs is in a time warp. Much of the construction was in the 60's during a town boom. Then the town went into a bust and little new construction. So 60's is all-over. Most new construction went east valley.
Tell People you know da Purple DOOG. That should get you a reaction.... Maybe even a room in Eisenhower Hospital !
